ACME response to A-Level Mathematics Entries
20 August 2009
Commenting on the 12.6% rise in A-Level Mathematics entries
compared to twelve months ago, and the 15.2% increases in Further
Mathematics, Professor Dame Julia Higgins FRS, Chair of ACME,
said:
"The surge in the numbers studying A-Level Mathematics and
Further Mathematics is extremely encouraging, reflecting a
continuation of the upward trend over a number of years. We hope
that this expansion will continue over the coming years, as it will
lead to more mathematically able students going on in to university
and entering the labour market. This can only be of benefit the
nation as a whole"
