A level consultation responses

ACME published two consultation responses in response to the latest A level consultations from the Department for Education and Ofqual.

In these consultation responses ACME highlights the need for a good deal of investment in professional development to ensure that teachers are equipped to teach the new specifications and are confident in teaching problem solving and modelling as suggested in the drafts.

ACME also highlights the need for there to be more analysis of how to validly assess A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Department for Education (DfE): The consultation documents on subject content from the DfE can be found  here, including the GCE AS and A level Mathematics subject content and the GCE AS and A level Further Mathematics subject content.

Ofqual: The Ofqual consultation on the recommendations for assessment: 'Developing new GCSE, A level and AS qualifications for first teaching in 2016' can be found  here.

ALCAB: The ALCAB report from the mathematics and further mathematics panel and the  correspondence to the DfE from Chair of the ALCAB mathematics panel, Professor Richard Craster are available on the ALCAB website.
